Casa Atlas
Our endeavor aimed to transform a traditional dwelling, spanning 280 m2 across two floors, into a contemporary haven while preserving its historical charm. Our primary focus was rectifying structural, sanitation, and safety issues while accommodating the owner’s needs and complying with present regulations. The renovation involved overhauling water and electrical systems and enhancing thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
The building, born from the fusion of two adjacent houses, had lost its original volumetric integrity over time. Our design sought to restore coherence to its façade while imbuing it with a contemporary aesthetic. We meticulously reorganized the interiors to optimize space utilization and flow, creating bright, open living areas. Additionally, a new patio was introduced in the heart of the house, flooding the interiors with natural light and providing a calm outdoor space.
The ground floor was reimagined to feature a spacious living room, a relocated staircase, and a revamped kitchen with direct patio access. Additional spaces, including a garage, entrance hall, and bedroom with an adjoining bathroom, were seamlessly integrated. Upstairs, a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom was retained, while the attic space was transformed into habitable quarters with panoramic views.
Externally, the façades were redesigned to juxtapose historical elements with modern architectural elements. Careful attention was paid to window placements and proportions, preserving the building’s character while enhancing its functionality. The outdoor area was revamped for uniformity and improved drainage.
Casa Atlas embodies the essence of architectural innovation while honoring the heritage of Vila Franca do Campo. A house where tradition meets contemporary, and where every corner tells a story of timeless elegance.
