Casa Areias
The existing house is located in a typical fruit production farm, in Rabo de Peixe, in the north of the island of São Miguel, Azores. The residence had already received some interventions in the past, which ended up making its volume and materiality somewhat fragmented and disconnected. The new project seeks to mitigate these differences and suggests a new aesthetic that is coherent and integrated with the context of the house. Thus, the project employs elements of local vernacular architecture, in a contemporary reinterpretation, and establishes open connections between internal and external space. Casa Areias seeks a respectful and discreet reinsertion into the territory, making it effectively adjusted to the environment in which it is located.
