Casa Pico do Alho
Nestled within the serene landscape of an old fruit farm, our latest architectural endeavor unfolds a meticulous renovation project seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary allure. At the core of this transformation lies a neglected country residence, awaiting a revival into a space that inspires and invigorates. Tasked with revitalizing the rustic charm of this old dwelling, our approach was clear: preserve the essence of the past while infusing it with modern elegance. The original structure, with its sturdy stone walls and clay tiled roof, provided the perfect canvas for transformation.
Central to our design narrative were the interiors, where echoes of tradition resonate with contemporary flair. Arched niches, internal windows, and doors stand as bold statements, marrying old-world charm with modern sophistication. These architectural features serve as a backdrop for creativity, inspiring our client’s artistic pursuits and bringing a strong character to the spaces.
In the northern wing, an inviting entrance hall leads to a cozy bedroom and a thoughtfully designed accessible bathroom, where a freestanding bathtub opens up to a private garden. Meanwhile, the southern expanse boasts an airy openness—a sprawling living area seamlessly blending dining, cooking, and lounging spaces. Here, a grand glass facade bathes the interiors in sunlight, fostering an atmosphere of creative exploration with functional arched niches and theatrical voids punctuating the space.
Additionally, an open staircase leads to the new upper floor, featuring the master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, closet, and home studio. With special views towards the surrounding landscape, the master bedroom boasts a round window overlooking the double-height social area, adding a unique feature to the space.
Externally, the facade maintains its rustic allure, adorned with painted plaster that echoes the hues of the surrounding landscape. The roof, now adorned with sleek anthracite-gray ceramic tiles, adds a touch of modern refinement to the countryside setting. Black steel windows frame stunning views, seamlessly merging the indoors with the outdoors.
As we breathe new life into this countryside retreat, we pay homage to its storied past while creating a space that inspires creativity and innovation.
